Glastonbury Watched by 18.6m TV Viewers

Glastonbury was watched by over 18.6 million people on TV, according to figures from the BBC. Both U2 and Coldplay pulled in an average of 1.5 million viewers over the weekend of June 24-26 while 2.6 million people tuned in to watch Beyoncé closing show on the Sunday.

Around 15.7 million watched weekend coverage of the festival on BBC 2 with 6.7 million viewers switching to BBC 3 and 4.3 million watching BBC 4.

Mumford and Sons pulled in the biggest figures on BBC 3, with an average audience of 777,000 and a peak of 1.1 million. The second highest average audience was Elbow, with 712,000.

U2's performance also enjoyed the highest average audience on BBC 4, with 1.2m people tuning in and a peak of 1.35 million.

Janelle Monae, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay all enjoyed a spike in album sales* following the iconic festival.
