Album Review: Rihanna

talk that talk (deluxe edition)

Rihanna's domination of the pop world is still going strong, so much so that her latest achievements in the industry have named her the first female to simultaneously top the UK singles and albums charts twice in one year.

Tuesday Track - James Vincent McMorrow's 'Higher Love'

Tuesdays are usually fairly uneventful days, I think we'd all agree on that. And this particular Tuesday is a gloomy, windy day with temperatures dropping noticeably lower. Winter is looming, as is Christmas, and for the scrooges among you, I have a rather fitting track to lift a tired Tuesday afternoon.

Album Review: Chris Cornell

songbook
(universal music enterprises)

Chris Cornell, he of the oftentimes downright frighteningly powerful vocals in Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, has been out this year on a major tour showcasing many songs old and new in an acoustic, 'Unplugged' style.

Live Review: The Damned, Viv Albertine

14/11 at the UAE LCR

With Lemmy out of action with an injured hand and Matt Skiba falling of his motorbike before leaving to see The Damned, I checked to see there wasn’t a third cancelled Norwich gig this week! Mercifully it was still on and the night kicked off with the former Slits guitarist Viv Albertine.

Live Review: Rise Against, The Nightwatchman, Polar Bear Club

10/11 at the UAE LCR

Until I bought the tickets I had never heard of Rise Against and I was unaware of Tom Morello’s 'Nightwatchman' alter-ego.

Live Review: The Darkness

16/11 at the brighton dome

Album Review: Steel Panther

balls out (universal republic records)

Satirically pretending to be a hair metal band that missed its big break in the '80s, singer Ralph Saenz ("Michael Starr"), drummer Darren Leader ("Stix Zadinia"), bassist Travis Haley ("Lexxi Foxxx"), and guitarist Russ Parrish ("Satchel") hit the club circuit on the Sunset Strip around the turn of the millennium under the name Metal Shop (later changed to Metal Skool, and then Steel Panther).
