As the Station Sessions Secret Season at St. Pancras International draws to a close this evening, organisers have made sure the event concludes with a bang, with an exclusive acoustic performance from up-and-coming artist, Michael Kinwanuka.
Michael Kiwanuka has recently come to the public's attention after appearing on the BBC's Sound of 2012 poll - a highly prestigious and sought-after new music list, with previous awards given to the likes of Jessie J, Little Boots and Ellie Goulding. His style of rootsy-folk music has been receiving high praise, and since putting out his first EP, Tell Me A Tale, he's now preparing to release his debut full-length album, Home Again, in Spring 2012. Having already toured with and supported huge names such as Adele and laura Marling, Michael's performance this evening is the perfect opportunity to see next year's hottest folk artist in an intimate and unique venue.
Supporting Michael will be nineteen year old singer, Gabrielle Aplin; a YouTube phenomenon who found fame through her own interpretations of popular rock songs. She currently has around thirty-one thousand YouTube subscribers and is a prime example of today's 'can-do' internet culture.
This exclusive gig is the final of four secret gigs from high profile music stars which are happening at St Pancras International throughout December as part of a ‘Secret Season’ of Station Sessions. The free performances, in support of the housing and homeless charity Shelter, will be performed in pop up style in front of St Pancras International’s giant LEGO tree. The event is free of charge, but donations will be encouraged with all proceeds going to Shelter, the official charity partner of Station Sessions Secret Season.
