On The Radar 27/03/12

A rather international selection of new tracks comprising this week's 'Staff Picks' from the Gigseen TV office ... New music featuring from Tanlines (Brooklyn), Mord Fustang (Tallinn), Eagulls (Leeds), and Oh Margot! (Santiago).

Tanlines - All of Me (selected by Grim) - Tanlines are Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm, a duo from Brooklyn, New York whose influence is drawn from various genres including pop, indie, dance and world music. Just released is their debut LP Mixed Emotions, from which All of Me comes, accompanied by a brilliant video directed by The Mighty Boosh's Julian Barratt.

Also worth checking out is their app-driven video to 2010's Brothers, filmed in 360-degree format and interactive! Tanlines play Brighton's Great Escape on May 10th (Tonight's show at London's Cargo has been postponed).

Mord Fustang - Welcome to the Future (selected by Matt) - Mysterious Estonian Electro-House producer Mord Fustang won Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the Beatport Music Awards 2012, and this recent track is a great example why. Rather difficult to find info on, his only online bio description is "Arpeggios, wobbles, 1-up mushrooms and disco basslines". Accurate? I think so...

Eagulls - Possessed (selected by Kate) - Hailing from Leeds, quintet Eagulls, are an unpretentious grass-roots punk rock band with deliciously lo-fi, fuzzy guitar sounds. Their chaotic and shambolic style is a real breath of fresh air, with hints of the Britpop era mixed with 70's nonchalant Punk vocals occasionally creeping in. Their next gigs are 7th April at The Duchess in York, and Tues 10th April at London's KOKO. I'll see you there!

Oh Margot! - Beautiful Embracement (selected by Grim) - Falling somewhere alongside The Vaccines with a hint of the Pixies, Beautiful Embracement from Santiago band Oh Margot! has been graced with a video filmed somewhat unusually (for a band from Chile) in Tblisi, Georgia.
