On The Radar 24/04/12

Tuesday's weekly selection of new tracks comprising this week's 'Staff Picks' from the Gigseen TV office ... New music featured from Dirty Projectors, Blackbird Blackbird, Pure Love, and an Adrian Sherwood remix of Django Django.

Dirty Projectors - Gun Has No Trigger (selected by Matt) - Dirty Projectors are the project of Dave Longstreth, a former Yale student who left college to become one of the most prolific and unique indie singer / songwriters of the early 2000s. Gun Has No Trigger is the first taste of the new album Swing Lo Magellan, featuring razor sharp beats led by his straining, passionate vocal line.

Blackbird Blackbird - Waikiki (selected by Grim) - Blackbird Blackbird’s latest track is Waikiki, a dreamy chillwave venture comprised of uplifting melodies and breezy, enchanting vocals— yet another track to prep your mind for summer. San Francisco native Mikey Maramag is the mastermind behind Blackbird Blackbird, in which he serves as producer, instrumentalist, vocalist, and performer. Waikiki is available as a free SoundCloud download.

Pure Love - Bury My Bones (selected by Kate) - This new track from Pure Love was unveiled last night on Radio One and signifies a new, less angry direction for the band, led by former Gallows frontman, Frank Carter. It's a big, cheesy rock track with catchy riffs and a sing-along chorus. Take a listen for yourself.

Django Django / Adrian Sherwood - Skies Over Cairo (On-U Soundsystem Remix) (selected by Grim) - Django Django - Hot, cool, new band everyone likes if they have half a brain. Adrian Sherwood and the On-U Soundsystem - Perennial genius, master of Dub, godlike bottom-end reverb deity. Not a bad combination really... This Skies Over Cairo remix comes as the flipside to Django Django's Storm 7" vinyl release for Record Store Day 2012.
