Featured Music: She Makes War

Blending urgent, grungey guitars with processed beats, heady pop melodies and a liberal dusting of glitter, She Makes War is the 'gloom-pop' solo project of Laura Kidd: London-based multi-instrumentalist, visual artist and digital polymath.

Recorded over late summer and Autumn last year, Little Battles is Kidd's second full LP, having been preceded by 2010's debut Disarm, which was also graced with a cracking remix album. Little Battles has been released on SMW's own label - My Big Sister Recordings and along with the earlier stuff is all available in a plethora of standard and Pledgemusic-esque formats via Bandcamp.

Lead single In This Boat came earlier this year and was topically released not only digitally, but also as a homemade Valentine's card on February 14th. This was shortly followed by Exit Strategy - both of which have been featured on BBC6 Music, gaining some well-deserved attention.

Evidently, Kidd is a highly hard working artist, her website lists all her gig appearances over the past few years and well, there's been quite a few! Lucky for us at Gigseen we'll be checking out She Makes War this coming Friday (22nd) in a support slot for the wonderful Dolittle at Islington's Hope and Anchor - So expect a little more on SMW in the very near future.
